Activision and Sledgehammer Games, the respective publisher and developer of the next entry in the Call of Duty series, are revealing the upcoming title this Sunday, May 4th.
The news came in a tweet from Sledgehammer Games, stating that a “new era of Call of Duty” will arrive on the 4th of May. Other notable additions/changes to mark the occasion include the new cover image on the Call of Duty account (pictured fully below) and a new countdown timer on the official Call of Duty website – coupled with a deliberately scrambled image that appears to depict a running soldier, possibly in a desert location. This webpage also has 3 small white squares dotted around the image that move when the page is refreshed. Each of these has a link to either a BusinessInsider page, a Wikipedia page or a New York Times page, all three about Private Military Companies.
GameInformer also had some information to share, stating that at 12:00 PM Central time they will reveal the cover image for the next issue of their magazine as well as first details on the game, including the name. Following shortly after will be the release of the digital issue, which contains the full 12-page feature on the game, which will divulge a selection of “exclusive and extensive” details.
They also had an in-game screenshot to share with us, which not only gives us a lot of unanswered questions, but puts to bed any rumors you may have heard about “Call of Duty: Patriots”, said to be the next game in the series, taking place in the First World War.
What do you think about what we’ve seen so far? Any theories on the game’s setting? Let us know in the comments!
