It’s Xbox One’s birthday, and we all get presents!

November 22, 2014 marks the first birthday of the Xbox One platform. While most first birthdays are celebrated with letting a little human smash cake into its face in a high chair while adults laugh, Xbox One’s birthday is centering around giving back to the community that has helped it to prosper in its first year.

Major Nelson posted the official announcement, which goes into details regarding statistics for the first year of the system, but here we’ll focus on what you can expect to get soon. Guaranteed to anyone who purchased a Xbox One any time between 11/22/13 and 11/11/14 in its initial 13 markets are:

  • A Year One gamer picture for use on your Xbox Live profile
  • A Year One background for your Xbox One dashboard, as well as a Day One background for anyone with the Day One Achievement
  • A Year One background for your desktop, twitter, etc.
  • A free, limited time rental of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn
  • A free limited Time rental of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods and a sampler pack of DBZ episodes

On top of that, there are a number of prizes that will be given away to some lucky players, both physical and digital. the list can be found in Major Nelson’s original post, and some are dependent on already having certain games.

The qualifying requirements for the freebies are that you purchased your Xbox One between 11/22/13 and 11/11/14 in one of the 13 launch markets, be 17 years or older, and have 10 or more hours of logged Xbox One usage. ┬áIf you opted in for E-mail notifications about Xbox One news prior to 11/11/14 you’ll receive an e-mail detailing your personal Xbox One stats from the last year.
