You’ve got to hand it to them, Sony has ambition.
Playstation Flow is the next step in immersive gaming, taking the technology of Project Morpheus and tailoring it to an emerging gameplay experience – underwater. With the recent increase in both quantity and quality of games that take players underwater, such as Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and The Last of Us, designers are looking at ways to enhance this growing experience.
Playstation Flow takes the concept of VR gaming and applies it to the underwater setting of both games and real life. Consisting of waterproof swimming goggles fitted with screens, waterproof headphones and linked pads for your arms and legs, Flow takes the signals from your equipment, sends them to your PS4, then streams the game to the goggles.
To ensure you can get back into the action out-of-water as quickly and seamlessly as possible, Sony has produced an additional body drier peripheral that will dry players off in seconds.
It has not yet been confirmed what price this is expected to launch at, nor has a release date been confirmed, however an educated guess would place launch timing around the launch of Project Morpheus.
What do you think? Is this a bit too much immersion?
