The next generation of Windows will be available on July 29th, Microsoft has revealed. Well, Cortana was the one who did the talking, but anyways…
As previously announced, if you have Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you will be able to upgrade for free to a full version of Windows 10 on release. If you’re as unobservant as I am, you won’t have noticed that a little Windows icon has sneaked its way into your taskbar – this icon opens a new app dedicated to getting you that brand new OS.
To reserve your copy and “skip the line”, simply click on this new icon aptly named “Get Windows 10” and it’ll get your copy reserved with just a couple of clicks. Once available, it will then automatically download Windows 10, ready for you to install whenever you like.
Windows 10 comes with a whole bunch of new features, design changes and more, including:
- Cortana – Personal digital assistant
- Edge – All-new internet browser
- Windows Store
- All new media apps
- Xbox Live & Xbox App – All-new interconnected gaming functionality, including game streaming from Xbox to PC
