Halo 5: Guardians Smashes Series & Platform Records

Congratulations are in order to the teams at Microsoft and 343 Industries – Halo 5 has broken several platform and series records!

In its first week, Halo 5 has made more than $400 million in global sales of hardware and games, bringing the franchise’s lifetime total to over $5 billion. This makes Halo 5 the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive title in history and the biggest Halo launch to date. With that in mind, the game attained the highest week-one attach rate of any first-party Xbox One title, the most played game on Xbox One for the week.

Halo 5’s promotional launch broadcast “Halo 5: Live” also managed to set a Guinness World Record  for the most watched video game launch broadcast, with more than 330,000 unique streams on the evening of the broadcast.

Since launch, players have logged more than 21 million hours of gameplay, with approximately 12 million of that in campaign alone. Over 45 million REQ packs have been opened, amounting to more than 568 million REQ cards acquired.

The Halo World Championship prize pool has also seen a significant boost – with crowdfunding from REQ pack purchases amounting to over $500,000, which has now been added to the original $1 million!
