Ubisoft announced on their blog that the beta for The Division had 6.4 million users jump in to give the game a try, which makes it the biggest beta ever for a new IP this generation beating out Destiny which had 4.6 million users.
Players spent an average of 5 hours playing the game with more than one-third of that time being spent in the Dark Zone and extracting over 63 million contaminated items. More than 2.5 million users also spent their time in the Dark Zone going rogue and killing other players.
The Beta was an opportunity for Ubisoft to test its online infrastructure as well as changes and updates made to the game. “We want to thank the millions of people who joined in on The Division’s Open Beta,” said Magnus Jansen, Creative Director of The Division. “We hope everybody enjoyed playing, and we think the beta is going to help ensure a great launch for the game.”
The Division launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on March 8th.
