One of the biggest criticisms of the original Titanfall was the lack of a single-player campaign. There was a campaign, but it was told via off-screen characters during multiplayer matches. Today, the latest trailer for the game was released, documenting the feats of a Pilot through the eyes of a Militia grunt.
Though there was no gameplay in the recent trailer, we saw that back in June, we did get to see a Militia Pilot kicking some IMC butt. Told through the eyes of a Militia rifleman, a Titan Pilot runs throughout the battlefield, using parkour and technology to effortlessly defeat dozens of IMC soldiers. “A Pilot sees the world differently,” he says. And it’s true. Throughout the video, we see the Pilot scan the battlefield for enemies, charting out flanking routes and traps. Walls become vertical floors to run along, or targets to grapple to. And then a Titan drops in. This is where it goes down of course, where all the Titan v. Titan battles begin. The speed and gracefulness of the Pilot it gone, now it’s all about firepower. “What truly separates the Pilot from all the grunts and machines on the battlefield, is the bond between a Pilot and a Titan.”
Titanfall 2 launches in just under a month, on October 28. Unlike the original, Titanfall 2 will be available on PS4, as well as Xbox One and PC. The campaign continues the story of the original Titanfall, a battle between the powerful Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation and the rag-tag Militia. The Militia won in the original Titanfall, but that was just one planet. The IMC is still out there on the Frontier, stealing land and resources. The battle may have been won, but the war is far from over.
