Wow there hasnt been any posts in the DS forums in a while, but heres something interesting
Two trailers loaded with thousands of Nintendo DS consoles have been stolen in Gothenburg harbor. This threatens Swedish stores to be without the popular game console in Christmas. The police suspect an insider.
It was during the weekend that thieves broke into the terminal area in Gothenburg port and stole two trailers. They didnt steal any other trailers, just the two that were filled with red, black and white Nintendo DS systems. The nature of this crime makes the police suspect it was an inside job.
"The fact that they chose this load among all the other trailers shows that they knew what they were looking for. The stolen property is worth millions of kronor, but we do not want to say exactly how many DS units were taken" said Patrik Johansson on Bergsala.
The theft was untimely because there is already a shortage of DS machines in stores for Christmas. Now many shops are in danger of being completely without the popular game console.
It is clear that it will be difficult for the stores that had ordered just the cargo. We do not know when we can replace the stolen items. We have asked Nintendo in Japan for an additional shipment, they tend to have an extra shipment for this type of emergency, but we have not received any response yet, we'll see how it goes.
All the DS, that were stolen have Scandinavian manuals, which makes Bergsala suspect they will be sold in Scandinavia.
We will keep our eyes open at various sources, but we would appreciate any tips that lead to that we find the stolen goods. We give 10 000 kronor for any tips that lead to the stolen goods being recovered, the promise Patrik Johansson.
