Well everybody,
I talked to Greenskull about this, and i'm thinking of painting my own custom RUL controller for Greenskull.
has anybody actually attempted to paint a controller? if you know any good tutorials it would be nice.
i'm planning to make my own first, it will be a christmas holidays plan, to get completly finished how I want it to be finished in 2 weeks, but if it does not turn out as great as I would want it to be, I definatly AM not gonna do one for RUL.
comments?

well, I got it mostly all planned out,
I know paint that bonds with plastic very well, and I will get a clear coat of paint which will reduce scratches / paint chippings, etc..
it is gonna be more spray painting, and i'll try to use hand-made stencils to draw in what I want to draw :P

Oh okay, sounds cool. If your good at it you could make a small business doing it...
I know a lot of the X-box owners would love custom controllers.

wooooooooooooo!
well, over christmas holidays,
i'm just hoping the one I make for myself is GOOD enough, like I don't want it to be crappy, since I don't wanna let RUL down by sending one in that does not look as good as it could be.
EDIT

yes I know it would be a great little buisness to start, especially for like RUL members, but i don't have paypal, I have a bank, but I don't have all the info to make it work with paypal, :/, and it's not a chequing account, it's savings.
I dunno if you can get savings to work.
and, yes so that would be a minor problem, sending them though would not be a big deal.

When you have the plastics off the controller. To help the paint to bond to the plastic your going to have to give it a little rub down with sand paper. i remember once seeing a video on how to paint a custom face plate for the 360 console on youtube. It's the same plastic so maybe look that up.

well, i'll buy some 500-600 grit sand paper, so it'll be fine fine,
and also, i'm thinking of using paint that will bodn to plastic, so hopefully it works out as needed.

Well funny you saying that... Just phone your bank while setting up the PayPal and just ask them what you need... I have a Savings Bank Account and I'm using it for PayPal and its really easy to make a PayPal.
Also:
I shall be with you in spirit, for the body can not cross these suitable lines that we call home.
There hows that for deep?

Dude, Im 14 and I have paypal hooked up to my bank account. All you have to do is enter your info on Paypal and they will make 2 deposits in you bank account (under $1). You just have to tell paypal what those amounts are (to make sure the account is yours) and you are all set.
Also dont worry, my bank doesnt question my paypal withdrawls so hopefully yours wont either :P

It tells you how to get the info. My account came with cheques so I found the info on there (it tells you how to find that info on the paypal site), but you can just look on your monthly statement and your branch number and account number should be on that somewhere.
After paypal makes the deposits, you can go to your bank and ask them for a statement of the last 30 days or you can just wait for your monthly statement to arrive.

well true, I could try to find my old monthly statements and see if all of the info is there.. :)

I used to Mod my Original Xbox controllers. I had LED buttons and made the middle logo light up and also painted them. I found the paint that works best is Tamiya paint from a Hobby Shop. Its a Polycarbonate paint that I used for painting Lexan Nitro Truck bodies and you can get some pretty crazy colors. It's really good for not chipping or melting off from sweaty hands like normal paint would. See if you can find some because when I used it it worked awesome.
For prepping the controller obviously make sure you take all the buttons and stuff out but your going to want to scuff up the parts with fine sand paper like 500+ grit. Don't worry about masking the button holes off. If you do light enough coats and wait for them to fully dry you won't have any problems. If you use to rough of paper its going to scar the surface of the controller cause the plastic is really soft. Then you just want to do really light coats of the paint. I remember I did like 10 coats of paint on my controller and like 15-20 really light coats on my Case and it looked sweet. The Tamiya paint dries really fast but stinks worse than any paint I have ever used so make sure you do it outside.

How much did the girlfriend cost? I know what being short on money is like (thanks college), so hopefully the girl was on sale. Hope you still try out this project. I love undertaking stuff like this, pumped for you dude.
