I've been reading this thread about an apparent new vidmaster achievement in ODST. It seems pretty legit. Read up on it:

we had some ideas. He didn't really specify how to get it. It could mean that you just need to HAVE a magnum and use a single skull

If this is true, getting Recon will be alot tougher/satisfying than getting the katana!
Which is good and also bad. All in all I'm glad it will be tougher.

That can't be it. Because aren't there multiple Vidmaster achievements in Halo 3: ODST? If there is more than one Vidmaster achievement in Halo 3: ODST, then how can just getting this one DEIMOS achievement get you Recon? Perhaps it meant full game, magnums, and all skulls were each an indiidual achievement. I don't know, but if there is only one Vidmaster achievement in Halo 3: ODST, it's not going to be that long before everybody haz teh Reconz.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what he posted in a thread saying. Now everybody seems to think this DEIMOS achievement is beating the whole game with only magnums with all skulls on. But this guy posted that all those together equal Recon. Wouldn't that make DEIMOS the only achievement? Because he didn't mention anything else would equal Recon.

Personally, I dont care about having recon, its just a silly armour permutation and after a bunch of people have it, it will become like the Katana and no one will care...

Assuming your a hardcore Halo fan, you'd want to complete the vidmasters nevetheless, a challenge is a challenge after all. Although when you finally complete this seven coloured rainbow of achievements, you wont have anything in the pot of gold at the end.

That's just assuming you're as much of a fan as me. I'd know if I had Recon I'd still play hard to complete the Vidmasters. But I don't blame if you decide not to go for them. I'm just saying you've lost the motivation now ;)

I agree with Cyclone. I don't want Recon early. I want to earn it and squeeze every last drop of challenging fun out of the Halo series. My motivation would be shot for a touch achievement if it didn't earn me any gamer points, and I already had the armor.

If I were you, I wouldn't get the vidmasters, to prove you got recon the real way, that is, if you aren't reimbursed...i like it!

Honestly the achievement doesn't seem that difficult since Bungie stated you would have to play Recon diffrently from the regular Halo's although i'm interested if this is legit since in a description of the title I read you take control of your fallen ODST buddy's and one of them has a specific sniper mission and the others have similar weapon specific tasks although this wasn't confirmed besides the flashback part.
