When I went to see Year One I saw the trailer for District 9 it is Directed by Neil Blomkamf and Produced by Peter Jackson, the same team for the stalled Halo movie, I have to say this looks like a great film

The beginning seems way too serious, I thought it was for an actual problem. Then I saw the alien... And I'm like, that just ruined it.

I guess ,but Shaun of the Dead seems to be more witty than Zombieland looks. Completly changing the topic does anyone know whats going on with the Bioshock movie ,cause I would really want to see that.

Yeah. But I think the guys who wrote/acted in Shaun of the Dead, were more creative too. Lastly, I didn't even know that a Bioshock movie was going to be made...

I would rather it be serious like that. It is a very cool take on the Sci-Fi alien Genre. Independence Day this is not.

I would not count that movie out until you have seen it.

Did you call :D? And I don't want to completly change the subject ,but seeing how the "Aliens in the Attic" is a movie about aliens it feels apropriate. That movie looks like garbage. This made me think I don't remember movies looking so awful when I was younger Everything so much cooler and exciting, I miss those days :(.

I hadn't seen any of those, I wish they had done more viral marketing though (i.e. played those MNU or w/e commercials about keeping humans safe as ads for the movie)

I really can't wait to see the movie and it has a really interesting premise...

How is making you think it is a real problem a bad thing? It's called immersion. They get you invested into the story, makes you feel more for the characters, makes you care about the Movie's world and what happens. It's part of making a good movie.

I never said it was a "bad" thing. It's just how the trailer introduced the aliens that ruined the seriousness of the video. Had I seen the other trailer first, I would probably think differently, but at this point I am not very excited about this movie.

Ok guys, I JUST got back home from watching District 9 and let me be the first to tell you...it was truly an EPIC movie.

The intense realism and suspenseful nature of the film was gripping. Not to mention it was chock full of drama with a nice rollercoaster ride second half.

The weaponry is the big star of the movie. I have never in my life seen such devastating weapons in a movie. My god. The mech...dear god. If you love war movies and think you'll hate this one...definitely check this one out. You will not be disapointed.

Character development was very very good on two different notes. I don't want to say too much cause it will be alot more enjoyable if I don't. However...

I couldn't help but notice some subtle halo references in this movie. It was so odd lol. Maybe I'm just paranoid or flat out weird. But, the mini spaceship in the movie looked exactly like the Pillar of Autumn. Some of the weaponry in the film even resembled Wetas models from the live action halo shorts. I recognized a few Battle Rifles encased in a white overlay. Really cool lol. "Look, it looks like she's wearing a halo." I know, it's a line. I laughed. Means nothing...but I laughed ;).

Did I mention that the aliens even kinda resemble Elites? Their necks if you notice have the same look about them believe it or not. They don't look exactly like them, but when I was watching this film I couldn't help but wonder if this film was a film to show the world that they could make the Halo movie work...and if they did...I would cry tears of joy.

The action was chaotic yet balanced. It wasn't overly exagerrated and everything about it seemed so visceral and realistic. Everything from the character interactions to the battle scenes themselves. Amazing Amazing film that follows a great structure that needs to be witnessed by EVERYONE, Viewers and filmmakers alike. One final note: Neil Blomkamp did a terrific job for his first feature length film. Kudos to him!

It's a must see and you need to see this NOW. Don't wait, See it NOW. Off tomorrow? SEE IT. Off tomorrow? You heard me. Don't ignore that part. I don't care if you have to work. Call in. Understand? GO SEE IT!

5 [nja][nja][nja][nja][nja]'s from me. :D.

What happened was that WETA (The Special Effects Studio) had been working on Assets for the Halo movie, and then it was canceled. They then transferred some of this stuff over for District 9. Peter Jackson has been quoted as saying that this movie was born from the ashes of the Halo project.

Yeah I watched the interviews. If you notice, the set in the halo shorts looks remarkably similar to the one used in District 9. Now did they create props to be used in an official Halo movie? Cause that would explain the Alien models. I swear their faces (mouths), hands, and body structure looked almost identical. Me and my buddy joked as we were watching calling the main alien, the Arbiter. Hilarious lol.

I was surprised that they used the Pillar of Autumn model. I don't know the facts about if they truly did or not...but wow it looked very very similar lol.

Yes, if you notice the small alien craft looked very similar to the ship used in the Arms Race short film (halo film.) Also, the alien creatures looked similar to Elites and it made me wonder if they used scrapped ones for the "future" halo movie and altered them a bit. Who knows.

Do you know what's very funny though? The visual effects in this movie were spectacular compared to GI Joes. What makes it funny is that District 9 had a very small budget up 30 Million while GI Joe had a budget of a whopping 100 Million+. Imagine that!

GI Joes effects were lackluster and don't get me started on the awful fakeness that is the sanddunes. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they used film footage from other movies!!!!

They look like Battle Rifles because Battle Rifles are based off of real weapons. They look most similar to a Famas.

They accually canceled Halo to make District-9. I saw the movie. It's such an amazing movie. It's like a Documentary. But then it gets in to Sci-fi Action. Then back to Doc. I rate it 9.5/10.

Didn't like this film to be honest. I don't see what to fuss is to make things look like documentaries in a fictional environment. I know it's to make it look like it could happen, but when you can't identify or care about the main character then you've lost your audience. Well, me as part of the audience anyway.

Well the main character is an anti hero with a big yet subtle heart :P. You want to like him yet hate him at the same time. The character development in this movie was done very well IMO. You develop the character before you can "identify" with it.

IMO this is one of the better films since the late 80's early 90's. I'd have to give it a 10 even though it did take a bit to start up however once it does it just takes off. *Note I honestly don't just give any movie a 10 unless it has justification

It is so worth the 10 score. I'd give it a 9.5 myself due to some tiny tiny tiny things. Being the directors first full length film, it deserves a 10. Spectacular.

I agree. The beginning took a little to long to start up, but once it did... Mind blowing. Totally worth the money, and in my opinion, this is the best movie that I have seen this year. 10/10, 5*, etc!:D
