Cant believe no one made a topic on this yet...
Anyone make the switch to Windows 7 yet? How difficult is the transition from Vista to Windows 7
I will hopefully post more info soon because I'm upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home Premium in a few days

I want it. I'm still on XP. I'll wait till it's a little cheaper and all the kinks are worked out. I've heard nothing but good from it.
Is it super compatible with XP stuff?

Gonna make the switch some time this week. Going from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional.
Use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=en) to find out what programs aren't compatible. Mine came back with no problems, my main concern is making sure my AutoCAD stays working.

My brother went from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7, he says he thinks both are good, but 7 is a good upgrade.

Then you may or may not be correct :P
Also the upgrade took about 5 hours and Windows 7 is decent.
Startup seems slower but after that everything is faster.
I have almost no compatibility issues (except my Stardock and Symantec Antivirus...)

I've been using it for a while now from being in the beta and its quite nice. I've had no problems with it and it runs pretty smoothly, I only shutdown once a month or less and still have no slowdowns so I give it a thumbs up.
+ it has a windows xp mode for anything that might not be compatible... but I've yet to actually find something not compatible.

...if your running vista; the upgrade is hassle free, actual upgrade.
Don't really have to reinstall anything unless its incompatible...

Its DEFINATLY worth it...
Also if you are running XP and dont want to lose files and dont have another harddrive you can upgrade to Vista then upgrade to Windows 7 :D
On another note my version of Windows 7 comes up as "not genuine" HALF of the time, the other its all good :)
There isnt much lost when its "not genuine" either, you still get all the important updates and it kills me to think im missing out on the countless useless "optional" updates 8-)

I love it!
it took me, no joke, 20 mins for it to install. I've not had one problem, and it's much faster on my laptop. Alot smoother too!

I can run alot of programs with no slowdowns, even I can have a game open and it not be slow.. where on vistas it'd would be lame.
