Screw you Sarah Palin. According to her, Family Guy is a pathetic TV show. Grow a sense of humor you fat cow.

Family Guy has been going down, down, downhill since the beginning of the third season:

Also, I find most of Seth's work to be EXTREMELY repetitive. All of his shows are the same exact thing. Seth even said that himself during an interview on David Letterman's show.

Never really liked Family Guy. The only two I liked were the Star Wars parody episodes.

Wow, Cookie. You actually made me feel dumb. I never looked at it that way. I still think they're all funny but American Dad. It's not funny to me

I never really cared for it. It just didn't make enough sense. and by sense I mean their jokes never made sense...

I think you have to understand where the jokes coming from to understand, but sometimes there are jokes that don't make sense

Family Guy's pretty funny at times, but only the older ones. The newer simpsons is meh, the only show I always laugh while watching is South Park.

I was a major Family Guy fan in the past. The old stuff was brilliant. Now it is too political, not funny, and the characters are no longer the same.

I am now more of a South Park guy as the show has remained solid and relatively consistent over time. Plus, while the show satirizes politics it does not really blatantly claim one side better than the other. The show merely satirizes the public in response to the politics.

I feel that when a show gets to political they lose what made the show great in order to push their ideas on others. Whether or not I agree with the politics discussed, it is still a major turn-off in my opinion.

I still watch Family Guy hoping it'll be restored to former glory but, that is not going to happen.

I don't find McFarlane's shows bad, they are just lacking and all too similar. Plus, the politics. I don't need any politics in entertainment. At least keep it more subtle and less blatant.

As for Palin, I don't blame her. I know plenty of people my age who hate the show. Plus, it is common among much of an older generation (though my family thinks it amusing). Remember, Family Guy did make her out to be aligned with Nazis. I'd be angry if someone made me out to be a Nazi (though I am still ok with shows being politically incorrect and if it were me it probably not phase me as much.) Still, I find her reacting understandable. She is not the first person to bash Family Guy and I think the Downsyndrome issue would not be an issue if Seth had not put in the "former Govenor of Alaska" line.

Now they need to make an episode making fun of Palin for getting mad at the show.

I like Family Guy, American Dad!, and The Cleveland Show. I don't watch them very often but I do find them funny.

I must disagree with Green, I like politics in TV shows (as long as they are just making fun of, not preaching). It keeps them relevant, but sometimes shows can overdue the politics to a point where it's not funny.

I also think that people should not be taking these shows so seriously; especially Family Guy, they do those things to get laughs, even if they're cheap laughs. I'm glad that Seth McFarlane, Matt Stone, Trey Parker, and the other writers/creators of similar shows, have the balls to make episodes mocking/satirizing important figures in society. It's hard to stand by your work when you know it will upset people.

Look at Bill Clinton, he is made fun of all the time in those shows, but he doesn't care that much. The more the person that is being made fun of gets mad at the show, the more people will want to watch. Humans are naturally curious, so when a show gets publicity, people want to see why others are having the positive or negative reactions to it.

I think they only get up in arms about some shows is because they wanna be the hero, that takes "bad" shows off of the networks

Family Guy is usually hit or miss for me, Peter is just too over the top. I do like some politics in cartoons (love South Park for this).

Wish the energy going into American Dad and The Cleveland Show were put into Family Guy instead. They could have evolved the show, instead of creating the cookie cutter spin-offs.

I used to like family guy a lot. Most of the time you have to know what they're ripping off to laugh at it, but even then it's not very funny anymore. I have to agree with cookie on the repetitveness. Lately I've been finding it boring as hell to watch.

I've never liked American Dad or The Cleveland Show. Not funny at all.

Futurama is arguably the greatest TV series ever. It's up there with MASH, Beavis and Butthead, etc.

Yeah but aren't they supposedly getting new voice actors or has this changed? If they get new voice actors I dunno if I'll be able to bear even watching it. And another thing, this thread refuses to die LOL.

Right, that's what I am saying. Family Guy over does it and pretty much preaches only one side.

Here is a comparison between the good presentation of politics in South Park vs. the bad presentation of Family Guy.

South Park: Those who voted for Obama are so happy he won party themselves into oblivion while the Mccain supporters prepare for, what they feel is, an impending apocolypse.

Meanwhile, it appears that both Obama and Mccain are working together conspiring to steal a valuable diamond.

In the end, those who partied and those who panicked found some common ground and realized they all over reacted.

Family Guy:
When Stewie and Brian travel to Nazi Germany they find that a Nazi soldier has a Mccain/Palin pin on.

As you can see here, South Park makes fun of all sides and takes no prisoners. It does not seek push the ideals of the creators on the public and sticks with pure satirical comedy.

Family Guy, on the other hand, has no problem being one-sided. Instead of incorporating the politics into satirical humor it randomly places political messages randomly into the words of characters or insignificant backround objects. Family Guy relies heavily on random/stupid humour. So when they place a political message in an episode, it is not subtle and unnoticable, but clear and almost pointless as it is often not there to enhance the episode and is instead a message and or jab from the creators. Sometimes I feel that they are trying too hard to reach the level of humour that South Park has reached, but ultimately Family Guy will continue on its spiral of failure until they return to their roots of no-message, pure, brilliant, stupid, random humour that they began with.
