RUL's New Server

Notice anything? Notice how sexily fast the site is? Notice how simply reading my text makes you all hot and bothered? Well that last part is just a normal side-effect. I know you feel it, even you guys. Yes, I mean you.

Ahem anyways after HOURS (and I mean HOURS) of head scratching, tech support phone calls, and hard work, I have successfully relaunched the site on a new server. RUL was on a shared server before. For the non-technogeeks out there, that means RUL was being hosted on a server with tons of other websites. So when RUL boomed, the other sites crashed. Now, we have an entire computer dedicated just for RUL.

And in good time, too. RUL has just passed an amazing goal! We passed the 100,000 mark in Alexa! That's right, we are now at 99,708! I know a LOT of really popular and well known sites who haven't even passed it. They all over around 100k.

So pat yourselves on the back. Sure I do all the hard work, but what would RUL be without you guys?

I'd like to thank a few people on helping make this happen.


Keadin, my previous webhost (/web pimp) helped work with me through the whole process. We scratched heads together, and even scratched eachother's heads.
neur0tk for supplying proposterous amounts of money to help support RUL. I could buy a house with what he's giving me, but RUL is more important. It's a home.
zE bEE for helping with some issues and checking stuff out for me.
PredArtagnan for writing articles that broke the site...twice.

I found the main cause of the slowness: the Xbox Live leaderboards.

I have disabled them. The site is HELLLLAAAA fast now.

They weren't really THAT useful, were they? They will hopefully make a comeback in the future.

I have never once looked at them! I think the new server is running smooth :) plus chatbox is better since you took out the avatars! we will need quad core processors soon once we get REALLY REALLY big :)
