The Walking Dead is one of my favorite series. I love zombies.

I dont know. I think the show has potential but. I feel as if the director really didn't capture the true essence of what a zombie should be. At one point in the series they even gave the zombie a human trait by reaching out to her sisters face and stroking it lightly. There are a few requirements I think when it comes to make a believable zombie.

-No human attitudes or traits what so ever.

-Never EVER have the zombie be able to use weapons or hold them (remember when the zombie was using the rock?)

-And do not let the zombies appear as though they are thinking. You could clearly see this when the 2 characters were walking through the city covered in human entrails. Some of the zombies were looking at them while walking by as if they knew something was up.

If they got rid of these things then maybe, MAYBE it would be an acceptable zombie show. But until then I will say that it is just another mediocre series that will last only another season or two before getting cancelled.

OMG!!! YES!!!

I hate the TV show. It sucks. It didnt follow the graphic Novels as it should have. They added people, and scenes, and places they have gone. They have changed Ed and his wife, they have changed how everyone should be portrayed from the graphic novels.

I am sorry, but if you read the comics you will be just as sourly disappointed with the TV show as I was when I watched it.

From a neutral standpoint.... The TV show would be good. But I myself, am unable to watch that garbage.

I agree. I think what is most important is first the characters. It seems that throughout the series the director was trying so hard to make you feel for the characters in this show. I for one could not feel a single ounce of remorse for the ones that died or have been hurt. It is because in my opinion they are boring people. Even the main characters is so static that its almost laughable. The only real obstacle he overcomes is

-Knowing that the the world is full of zombies and...

-that his family is gone and he must find them.

Now these seem like great motives to drive a character to the brink but the way they execute it is very poorly done. I will take another example. The emotion they try to make you feel. This was most apparent when Jim had gotten bit and was slowly but surly turning into a zombie. As the episode went by he slowly started to feel more pain. It reached its climax when he asked to be left behind. Now when the characters were saying their goodbyes people were crying and giving him hugs and kisses. Now its clear as day that they wanted you to feel something for him. I for one could not because as I said before, he is to static.

As long as the characters remain the way they do, there will NEVER be a connection between them and the viewer. Its one of the classic poisons that the director/creators seem to do. Bite off more then they can chew. I for one was not impressed one bit.

Im not complaining about how he protrayed them in that sense. Im talking that the only person they did cast that

(using your style)

-Looks like the comic

-Acts like they do in the comic

-Has the personality they do in the comic

Is Jim. And he dies. But like the guy who got handcuffed to the roof, wasnt in the book. His brother, wasnt in the book. Ed the wife beating piece of ****, wasnt in the book nor was his wife. Also (Its been a while) The Asian boy I cant remember his name. He LOVED going into the City, every day he would go into the city because he had nothing to live for. and they explain that when they all leave Hershel Farm (Dont know where the TV series is at right now... as I have only see one terrible episode.)

But like my one co-worker was saying, that they went to some science lab?? Uhhhh They never went to any science lab in the comics... So They have ADDED and CHANGED so much to extend it. If they havent even met Hershel then they have yet to hit the half way mark in the first book when there are approx 16-17 books (i cant remember exactly.. there may even be more)

Im going to bump this thread(please don't assault me) because I just started watching it again after about a 3 month break.

For a tv show, an AMC one at that, this show is quality. I just love it and I get all excited again about zombies every time I watch it.

Also, it makes me wish for a quality L4D3.

I hear Season 2 starts up in October.

One of the few shows I actually follow along with Fringe and Dexter. There are a few others, but these are the big ones.

They had a marathon on a couple months ago of the entire season...I watched it from start to finish and loved it.

I can understand why people that have read the GN would be upset...to them, accuracy means a lot and if it isn't done right, it's a failure to them. Perfectly understandable.

However, from a neutral standpoint, the show is amazing. The plot and drama mixed with the constant threat of zombies, makes for some GREAT television. As far as what a zombie "should" be...you can't have one true definition of what a zombie is because they don't actually exist. That's like saying there should only be one type of dragon...lol
Zombies can look and act however the director feels they should because it is HIS/HER vison. They can be fast, slow, smart, dumb, dexterous, clumsy, or any combination there-of.

Personally, I think these zombies work well for the show...some coherence in a zombie makes for some great dramatic scenes.

Agreed, well said. Though one correction, zombies don't exist...yet.

I am glad you understand. Walking Dead is one of my Favorite GN's (beside DMZ/Y: The Last Man) and when I watch the show all I do is nit pick about how Shane should be dead, and how Shane didnt get so upset at her and this and that. But every time I see the BRD case it makes me want to buy it because I have that sheer love for the GN
