Big News! Bungie Favourites!

UPDATE! READ BOTTOM OF POST!

I was talking to Luke Smith from Bungie and it looks like Ready Up Live will get control over Bungie Favourites on Halo 3 for two whole weeks! Now this is where you come in! We need to round up the 40 best files from the community as fast as possible! Please everyone say what ones you like and play often etc. I highly recommend making a new awesome map/video/gametype/screenshot this week! Once everyone has submitted their votes, I will make a date and time for 16 of us to play all the chosen maps and watch the videos etc. We will then decide if they are worthy or not.

There have to be 5 of each type of file. Here's the breakdown for the first set. I'll be updating it based on what everyone votes on.

Dude, over here I got 2 sick maps and gametypes, I will be working on a lot more original material, I also have a vid where I shoot a banshee down with a missile post when It's 40m in the air and half comes down and crushes me. The first gametype is an infection map where the zombies have SMG's, 200% Health, and 200% speed, whereas the humans have magnums (for headshots) and spawn on top of the base. The base's entrances are closed and new ones open throughout the game to make one very interesting experience.

The second game I have is a symmetrical Team Slayer/Multi Flag/Neutral Bomb map that is just a BLAST to play on and I would really love some recognition.

I think bungie said this in one of their past weekly updates, I'm to lazy to scan through them all to find it; But to paraphrase, I remember them saying that they will be giving the privilege to select bungie favourites to certain communities such as RUL, and to share pics, clips, etc from the people within that community.

If you all actually read the REACTION to that update, you would've known that everyone absolutely HATED it. There were so many threads voicing their opinion against this idea for the EXACT reason what YOU are doing:

Only choosing content from a small group of people.

Which means out the the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people, a few now have the chance at Favs unlike before where most everyone had a shot.
See the conflict?

Before=Everyone had a chance
Now=no one has a chance

The reason Bungie even did this was because they had stuff going on and the Favs would go WEEKS without updating (which you STILL haven't done...). So they let the community groups choose them instead.
What many people think the groups SHOULD be doing is just do what Bungie did: browse the B.net forums for good content and have a thread where it's members can submit their own stuff and stuff they've seen. THAN, the leader would pick the coolest content REGARDLESS of who made it.

It's fine if you want to pick some of yours or your group members content, but only if it is truly worthy and you can't find better stuff. Because THAT is what actually defines something that's a Favorite in the first place.

So this whole "RUL" only attitude has already sparked outrage in the B.net forums because people have heard of what you are doing. And they don't like it.

So consider this a warning: If you put content up that is less than satisfactory because it "has to come from RUL", than your gonna get flamed by people. The community already thinks the content on there sucks.

And on top of this all, you got "Favs power" April 7th. And you STILL haven't updated them...This isn't exactly a gigantic community compared to B.net...Come on already.

Although, I don't have a screenshots to give, I love that random people are joining the site and telling RUL what to do with its opportunity. This is a chance to show the screenshots of certain communities and if someone wants in they should join the community.

Noone's saying that they can't put the screenshots in, but they just have to recommend their's themselves via this site. Personally I think that's bogus and people who have been contributing to the site for a while should have their pics up, but it makes if fair for complainers like you.

If you read the other posts it says that RUL won't have the ability to update the Fav's for a couple of weeks. If you want to post pics, do it if you don't Shut UP

If you all actually read the REACTION to that update, you would've known that everyone absolutely HATED it. There were so many threads voicing their opinion against this idea for the EXACT reason what YOU are doing:

Only choosing content from a small group of people.

Which means out the the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people, a few now have the chance at Favs unlike before where most everyone had a shot.
See the conflict?

Before=Everyone had a chance
Now=no one has a chance

The reason Bungie even did this was because they had stuff going on and the Favs would go WEEKS without updating (which you STILL haven't done...). So they let the community groups choose them instead.
What many people think the groups SHOULD be doing is just do what Bungie did: browse the B.net forums for good content and have a thread where it's members can submit their own stuff and stuff they've seen. THAN, the leader would pick the coolest content REGARDLESS of who made it.

It's fine if you want to pick some of yours or your group members content, but only if it is truly worthy and you can't find better stuff. Because THAT is what actually defines something that's a Favorite in the first place.

So this whole "RUL" only attitude has already sparked outrage in the B.net forums because people have heard of what you are doing. And they don't like it.

So consider this a warning: If you put content up that is less than satisfactory because it "has to come from RUL", than your gonna get flamed by people. The community already thinks the content on there sucks.

And on top of this all, you got "Favs power" April 7th. And you STILL haven't updated them...This isn't exactly a gigantic community compared to B.net...Come on already.

That is a cool idea. I'm not crazy about grifball, as fun as it is. Making a playlist for it like a tournament or something for a couple weeks would be cool though.

What are your favorite maps?
Bungie maps? or Community Forged maps? There aren't to many Bungie made maps that I enjoy playing on a consistent basis. However, in saying that the symmetrical outlay of The Pit makes it an amazing map. There should be more arena style maps like it. Also, Blackout is growing on me.. I'm starting to get used to the changes made from Halo 2's Lockout.
As for community maps; I have 2 favourites.. and you guessed it they are all from the MLG forums. (they are all fun, and can be competitive maps)
Lockdown v1, and MLG Chill Out! *Halo: CE map Chill Out remake* by iTs NeXn
There are many more, just to lazy to list them :P

Meh.. Team Slayer, Oddball, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, you know..

I personally would like to see Team Snipers make a return to matchmaking (ala Halo 2), or maybe a 1v1 gametype. You can find a lot of forged Heads Up maps for 1v1 on the Halo 3 Forge forums at mlgpro.com

One last thing, I just looked at all the screens you currently have making faves, and none of them are too great. You will be flamed for putting them up. Bungie has been flamed for putting way better shots than those on faves...just saying. You should really take more time in choosing them. The people from Red vs. Blue do have a new map that they are "working" on for grifball. It's on Last Resort on the beach line. I saw it on burnieburn's fileshare and they do ask what your thoughts about it were. I thought it was a good idea, but there's so many flaws anyone could notice.

I belong in this B.net group too called Screenshot Photographers, and these are a few of our pics. I am not ansking anything...Just showing that pictures with effects like these in them are usually the ones the are expected on Favs. Not the freak accident shots like strectchies or flying high.

So personally, I really don't like the pictures up there....But I like the Sprint map. I tried it and it was cool. not sure I had the right variant, but w/e. Lol. (nope...I'm supposed to have Bulldog,right? oops...) Freon isn't bad either.

Speaking of Bulldog, I played a WICKED AWESOME map yesterday. i dunno what it was called or who made it, but it was an Infection game on Foundray, but it was like a bull ring. All the humans were in the bull ring and a lone zombie spawned on top with high health and a chopper. He zoomed down into the ring and the humans had to kill the zombie before he splattered them all. It was so fun!!

I can't say I completely agree with you Diktator.

Sure those screenshots are cool, but it's essentially the same thing over and over, "trying to make a cool effect". Although these screenshots are nice, and I have nothing against them, there are other elements that can make a great screenshot.
For example, thinking outside the box and coming up with something that nobody has ever thought about or seen before. Take my Black Elite for example, perhaps it doesn't have the best effects out there, but where else have you seen an elite with black armor. It's pretty badass.

No Ghandi, probobly not, I am starting to agree with the other people on this. We seriously need to look more into the screenshots. The only one that is on there that deserves to be there is the Black Elite one. I also HIGHLY recommend that picture Fireblades has where the Battle Rifle goes through his head because I know a good percentage of the community likes to see humorous pictures.
