There is a glitch with the points when you edit a post and save it RuL points are added on top of the original posts points(not that they mean anything to me). Just posting this to improve the site. Thanks

It's a glitch in the software itself and we are looking into ways of fixing it.
Thanks for the feedback!
NOTE: We track the system. Abuse of this glitch will not be good on anyone's part.

Don't worry about it. I've still got this covered.
There's only one colour avalible currently as it was meant to be disabled for the time being. We do have plans for some exciting things in that department in the future, so keep watch!

Haha, I never would have even looked for something like that. But least you guys track it, right on.

It would be nice to have a list of what give points and maybe more importantly what takes them away.
Ive noticed that if I was to edit a post points are deducted. Sometimes its 10 points, other times its 20! Is there a reason for this? Editing posts imo only improve the forums. I fix typos, grammatical errors, or imbedded videos/pics often and Ive probably lost more than 100 points so far for this and Im just not sure why.
Feels like im banking with Bank of America. lol

Yeah, it in general gives ten points then subtracts ten points for editing a post. (20 points is related to editing a thread which you started first post) We got rid of the 1 point per edit because of it being abuse-able. Sometimes the system may glitch if you do a very quick edit near the posting time causing you to lose points, but in general it's a balanced deal where you gain 10 (or 20) points and lose 10 (or 20) for each edit. So you end up gaining nothing at all.

Exactly what Rebel said. When you edit a post or thread, you will neither be gaining nor losing points.

I was a proponent of leaving the +1 for editing posts, since it encourages users to fix their mistakes. But alas my lonely vote was over-ruled; you'll just have to earn them the old fashioned way.
As for the rest of how the points system works, the mystique adds to half the fun. Just continue to be active and they'll add up before you know it (jawwi)

Editing and re-submitting an old post is just as much of a transaction in the points system software as is creating a new one from scratch. Unfortunately there's no way to filter out the clutter to keep things straight-forward while implementing the points system across the boards. Glad we could be of help :)

I know I am bit late, I get why this has to be done but, I don't like it because I am prone to make a mistake. I guess I have to re-read what I type from now on.

You still get the points for making a post. You lose none or gain any when you edit it. Nothing changes when you edit your post, but your post.
