View Full Version : Your favourite band! Or artist?

I want to know what your favourite music artist is and why. If you don't listen to music... never mind.

Hatred or negative comments towards other people's tastes will not be tolerated (I will try really hard). At the end of the day we are all just a random combination of atoms detecting other atoms vibrating so why hate?

My favourite band is Led Zeppelin. That is because of their mastery of their instruments, their enormous influence, broad range of genres, general musicianship and also defining the Rock and Roll lifestyle.

Its hard for me to put a favourite out, so Ill pick a few. One would be Dark Tranquillity. Its a nice melodic death metal band that has such musicianship and melody to it. Its not just screaming their heads off to blast beats.

Another would be Deftones. Have you ever watched a movie that involves a late night scene with some guy listening to metal that you can never find? Well, I feel Deftones is that band haha. Dunno why, but the feeling is fantastic when I listen to them.

And last, Alexisonfire. Mostly because they influenced me to pick up a guitar and learn. Everything I am today is because of Alexisonfire.

I have more than a few favourite artists/bands that I like, but one of them is Linkin Park

They have a overall great sound with reconisable songs, put on awesome live shows, lyrics you can relate to & are all great guys behind the scenes.

Nice choice! For the next 11 months I'm living by one of their famous lyrics, "Nobody likes you when you're 23" haha ;)

Back on topic- first and foremost my favorite bands… Paramore and Cartel. Favorite artist… Carrie Underwood ( I like a lot of Country music in general )

I have a few, the main one being TOOL.

The band takes a lot of time creating their albums and their always nothing short of perfection. Great music and even greater lyrics. Their songs have a sort of mystery behind them and the lyrics are usually open to interpretation and there's always some comedy hidden in them. I love everything about this band, plus they're AWESOME live!!

Others: A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Skrillex, Deftones (oh yeah Ethiopian Boy! new stuff kinda sucks though *sadface*,) Mudvayne, Meshuggah, System of a Down (new album in the future!!! YES!,) and so much more.

@Ice Cold: I didn't realize SoaD was going to do another album O.o That is fantastic!

I, a few other have said, do not have a favorite band. But there are a few bands that I can always go back and listen to.

Bayside: Amazing music and meaningful lyrics. Songs that I can make a connection to are some of my favorites, and no band does it like Bayside. Not to mention that they're on an indie label, so they go to smaller venues that are way more fun than bigger ones.

Rise Against: Political music is something that I truly enjoy. But that was never, until more recently, my focus when listening to Rise Against. I really like their rock style while still maintaining rather poetic lyrics that have deeper meaning. They also want to make a point with their music, which is where the political stuff comes in. They stand for many things that I agree with.

Stars, blink-182, stellastarr*, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Format. Idk, I listen to too much music to pick just one favorite band or artist.

Haha yeah SOAD got back together. I had floor tickets to their first show since they went on hiatus way back, but ended up having to give em away cause I couldnt go. So bummed out. And @Ice Cold, yeh not the biggest fan of Diamond Eyes. but I can still listen to it. Their best album has to be Around the Fur or White Pony

You are my new favorite person. Congratulations!

Linkin Park has been a huge part of my life since right after Hybrid Theory was released in 2001. I was a member of the Linkin Park Underground for 3 years (2003 - 2006) and I plan on joining back up as soon as they announce another US tour and/or album. I've met the band twice, have two signed LPU t-shirts, and actually got to have a 1-on-1 conversation with Mike Shinoda for about 15 minutes. The man is simply amazing and the coolest guy on the planet...the dude makes Fonzi look like Steve Urkle. He has been my idol since that day and will be for a long time. The guy is an inspiration.

LP has changed their sound recently and a lot of people don't like it. Personally, I try not to compare their old stuff and their new stuff. To me, they are both equally amazing in their own right.

Oh and quick fun-fact: I know every song on Hybrid Theory and Meteora word for word. Still working on their latest two albums.

I loved those 2 albums as well, but in all honesty I have lost a lot of respect for that band over the years.

Zedd
Dark Tranquillity
Insomnium
Amon Amarth

I could go on..

I dislike with a passion to break the CD's and want to delete all records of it from the face of the planet: Nirvana. I Loathe them.

lol cheers man, congratulations are in order for you too as you are now my new best friend on this site :) haha

I've been a fan of LP since the beginning, right when I first seen "One Step Closer" on Kerrang TV. I'm jealous of you for getting your t-shirt signed & meeting Mike (Goddamn you seriously lol). I've seen LP tiwice, first time at the Glasgow SECC on November 20th 2003, then again at the Milton Keynes Bowl on June 29th 2008 (aka the same show that "Road To Revolution" was filmed).

I've actually played with both Mike Shinoda & Chester Bennington on Xbox Live's Game with Fame in the same year. Mike Shinoda on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 26th 2009, then Chester Bennington on Halo 3: ODST on December 1st 2009. Before Halo: Reach was releashed, Xbox Live said that Linkin Park was going to play Halo: Reach not long after its releashed (They never said who but I'd asume it was going to be the vocalist). It was cancelled due to schedule conflicts, the whole Game with Fame was scrapped afterwards as well.

As I've followed LP through their career and seen how their music has changed over time, no matter what they come up with musically I've always liked it because I know that they make the best music they can for the fans. I've never argued or disagreed with their choices in their music. I know mostly all the words from the first two albums, the past two I'm still getting the hang of.

Fun fact: I can play some of their songs on drums :)

Ex-LPUer here. I was obsessed with Linkin Park back in the day. I had a huge crush on Brad Delson - he's actually the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place! I actually haven't heard any of their new stuff lately, but I'm still pretty in love with Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora, and Minutes to Midnight. :') I've also seen them in concert twice and both times were perfectly epic. I know every song word for word, too. LP karaoke night, y/y?

Deadmau5 (deadmouse) has some pretty good stuff. Just started listening to him recently. If you like stuff with a good beat and club music then his latest album is probably what you're looking for lol. Plus he's obsessed with Zelda, so some of that bleeds through into his music. Check it out ;).

My favorite by far is Linkin Park. Have been a fan of theirs since Hybrid Theory. I own all their albums and have all the underground/unreleased stuff. Over the years they may have changed their sound and style, but with each change I find that I enjoy them more and more. I have not had the chance to meet any o them yet, but would love to do so someday.
