We at Ready Up Live are pleased to announce that on January 18th we will be taking part in raising awareness about the evil's of PIPA and SOPA. Due to this, we will be blacking the site out for the day. We apologize in advance about interrupting your browsing of Ready Up Live for the day.
We strongly believe in protecting the openness of the internet and the freedom of speech available on it. SOPA & PIPA will drastically change the internet as we know it. It is a blight upon the internet, one which will effect everyone; no one in the world is safe from the censorship that will take place due to these acts. If you are in United Sates of America, we strongly encourage you to contact your representatives of both the House and Senate to tell them how wrong, and flawed SOPA and PIPA are.
For more information on SOPA and PIPA, and more ways to take part in the fight against them head to http://americancensorship.org/

As nice as that is to hear, it almost makes me more worried. Since that part is dropped, the bill may pass easier and then, later down the road, that section will try to get passed. And, if SOPA is already passed, bills with things like DNS blocking will be passed easier.
Hopefully this is the first sign of victory over SOPA.

Just to make sure RUL isn't offline tomorrow, SOPA has been stopped in the 'mercian congress. At least temporarily. So I'm not completely sure but I think the blackout won't happen. Everyone should probably check first.

The third link just confirms it for me
If this bill passes, I'm selling my PS3 and never buying another game from EA again.

While SOPA is defeated, a new act known as ACTA has risen which you should opposse even more then SOPA.
This is because it will have several more devastting effects then SOPA:
1) Much more stringent restriction on indivdual rights such a freedom of speech and privacy
2) Harsher penalties then other acts proposed lately
3) Poses an even greater threat to the functioning of the internet.
The countires this will effect are as follows:
United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada

SOPA was nothing compared to this monster. Please do all you can to spread this news
And for all residents of the United States. read up on the new act OPEN as a sort of replacement for SOPA/PIPA and voice your opinions about it.

I hate how out of touch with reality law makers are. They can see that 99% of people are unhappy with most of their decisions, yet they chose not to change.

Another 4 letter acronym? The establishment isn't very original in taking away my rights.
