OK So I rarely see more than 5 people or so in the chat at one time, and the chat is kind of awful I mean it doesn't show up on every page and I don't think it auto scrolls to the most recent post either. I have tried out three different chat programs for other sites I run recently and I think the best choice for RUL right now would be this guy:

https://www.envolve.com/

It is free for up to 25 concurrent users, and it integrates very smoothly with vbulletin. However if it gets blown up and there is a tonn of users the next best thing is:

http://www.cometchat.com/

It is pretty cheap and it has some good modules for stuff like the RUL facebook fan page and twitter. Plus you can embed chat rooms into pages, play games with other users, etc. you should check it out.

There was some guy somehow pissed about this same thing as you a long time ago, and the reason for that it does not show up every page is that WE WANT PEOPLE TO MAKE THREADS. and I don't think there is anything wrong with the curret one. thank you.

haha I am far from pissed about it man, just offering some suggestions to help improve the site, in my experience chat has not really cut down that much on thread creation as its primarily used for casual conversation more than anything. However I didn't mean to offend anyone by bringing this up, just my opinion, sorry.

I didn't think I was offending anyone nor I was offended. But dont you think it has succeeded in it's job when it is used for the casual converstation?

OK, well I agree with you that at the most basic level yes it facilitates conversation. Having said that you could argue two tin cups tied together with string facilitate conversation at their most basic level the same as an iPhone does, but I am going to take the iPhone every time. The chat is pretty clunky and awkward and not very elegant, I was just suggesting a more modern solution that might elevate the experience beyond the most basic.

The chat always lags for me. I almost never use it because I think it is garbage, or outdated. I just choose to never use it is all.

Yeah the main reason it is only on one page is to make sure people post in threads more. Not sure if that will change, but it will be getting an upgrade.

I would be willing to bet that a lot of people feel this way, I added a poll vote for New Chat!

seriously though why not try out a new chat system and if it cuts down on thread conversations then just revert, simple right?

You need the internet app.

I like the chat. I love to use it when im in a hurry and dont have time to browse the forums. Also, I like talking to Smore and he is always on chat.

Actually we did test it a while back. We had the chat on every page. Forum posts screeched to a halt. It was pretty drastic.

Interesting, well I stand by my opinion that the chat is still clunky and awkward, it should at least be updated to a better system even if that system is not a facebook style bottom bar thing.

Not sure if trolling or just really angry at everything?

Haha how am I being angry on this thread man? Your perception is very skewed of you think this is angry.
