Big Bang Theory - 16 million viewers (Reference (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/01/27/thursday-final-ratings-the-big-bang-theory-adjusted-up-to-thursday-high-american-idol-up-the-finder-adjusted-down/117845/))
Two and a Half Men - 12 million viewers (Reference (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/01/17/tv-ratings-monday-alcatraz-premiere-tops-terra-nova/116692/))
2 Broke Girls - 11 million viewers (Reference (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/01/17/tv-ratings-monday-alcatraz-premiere-tops-terra-nova/116692/))
Explain to me how three shows that are universally reviled by critics get such a high number of viewers. When I see that there are about 40 million people watching these three shows it makes me feel like an alien. Like for some reason all these people love these shows and I hate them so much, they are so awful, that people who like them must be fundamentally biologically different from me.
When I see these numbers I feel like I walked into a cafeteria and everyone there is eating poop, and they love it! I see people just eating all this poop and they are calling me over like "hey, come have some of this its GREAT!"
I can't stand it, I can't understand it, someone help me...please...

Some people like poop others not some much. Nothing wrong with being different. I don't care for it myself.

No offense, it is just my perspective on the situation, it's my problem not yours.
I can see other people's side of the issue most of the time, but with some things, like how you could possibly enjoy watching The Big Bang Theory, I just can't understand at all. It is like discussing the shade of color the sky is, some might say navy blue, or turquoise and I can understand that even if I don't agree with it. However when someone says they like Two and A Half Mean it is like they are saying the sky is Orange and I just do not understand at all.

I understand all the jokes in The Big Bang Theory, as well as Two and a Half Men...
However, I no longer watch Two and a Half Men because Charlie Sheen is no longer in it, he was the only reason I loved the show.
PS: To state it's awful is an opinion not a fact.
EDIT: You can't take the shows seriously they are comedies after all. (at least TBBT and T&AHM are.)

Never said this was factual dude, I am an opinion guy and I said that in my posts.
To address your other point: I can hate a comedy as much as I hate a drama what genre a television show is in does not matter.

They dumb down the jokes to much for me.

Put simply, it's because critics and everyday audiences think differently. Two and a Half Men is absolutely terrible and always has been, but it's terrible for reasons that most people don't care to notice. If the majority thinks something is funny, they'll call it good and it doesn't matter whether or not our more refined tastes disagree. The same goes for Two Broke Girls, which I think is awful, but still rather enjoyable to watch. Probably because I love Kat Dennings.
The Big Bang Theory is a different story, personally. I think it's hilarious and so I'm a pretty big fan, but I do hate how much it stereotypes nerd/geek culture so blatantly. A lot of people tell me I like the show because I can "identify with the characters," which I find a little insulting, and, quite frankly, it isn't true. The guys in TBBT are not your typical nerds - they're hyperstereotyped and while they're hilarious to watch, I just can't stand how the majority of America now uses them as a basis on how we all look, talk, and act.

I understand the jokes said in these shows, they're just arn't funny and the punch lines are very obivous and predictable; Often revolving around a bad pun. If anything it's often an insult to the things they parody.

Two and a Half Men gets old for me, but there are some really funny moments. I love the Big Bang Theory, it has episodes that build up and just keep getting even more funny. Good stuff.

I only like those shows ironically, but I'm being ironic about it. HIPSTER GLASSES ACTIVATED.
In reality I can't argue that these are incredibly well done shows because obviously a lot of people like them and a lot of people means a lot of stupid people.
At the same time do you like oxygen? Everybody uses it. It's nothing special, just two oxygen atoms in a molecule. Doesn't make it bad.
Now these shows are funny (although cheesy, bad quality, blahalhalhblahblah) but pretty much everyone can enjoy them at some level.
So if you've seen the episode of South Park where Stan hears and sees everything as complete sh*t, and you related to it I know that feel bro. Just remember the lesson learned: when you are intoxicated everything feels alright again.
I think my point is get really drunk then you will have the same intelligence as most people. THEN YOU WILL ENJOY THESE SHOWS. Ironically of course.
Signing off from another waste of your time,

P.S. Use many layers of sarcasm. Then people don't realize you hate them very much. Until you forget what you really think. F*ck it I'm just crazy.

I am a pretty intelligent guy and let me tell you one thing. When you don't have cable tv and/or internet, take it from someone that knows, you come to love The Big Bang Theory. It's a funny show, granted it's not my favorite of all time, but I enjoy it. On a random not, Third Rock From the Sun was brilliantly hilarious. Just saying. I like Big Bang Theory too...geez it's too late I don't even know what I"m typing anymore....
Basically, I like that show.
