    Toy Soldiers Review

The video review for Toy Soldiers is just below. What is said in the video is the same as the text below it so you can choose which you'd rather do: watch a video or simply read.

As a kid, what guy didn't wage epic battles with their piles of little green army men? Toy Soldiers lets you re-enact that precious childhood memory. In Toy Soldiers, you set up mounted weapons to help protect your base from attacking soldiers. The weapons you set up include machine guns, howitzers, mortars, and chemical throwers. You can even set up fences to help slow down the enemy.

Toy Soldiers plays a lot like the classic game Tower Defense. You earn money by killing enemy troops and with that money you can build more weapons or upgrade your old ones. If you get bored of watching your soldiers do all the work, you can take control of any of the weapons yourself and dish out the pain on the enemy forces. By holding the trigger you can even follow and control some of the weapons' bullets. Your base can only take a certain amount of damage, so once a specific amount of enemy soldiers enter your base you lose the game. Luckily, just before going in the soldiers take a second to stop and smell the roses, so if you have a nearby turret you can usually take them out. Survive every wave to beat the level.

The enemy units are varied. You start out by fighting the simple soldiers then you start fighting cavalry, vehicles, and even Zeppelins and Uber Tanks. The toy soldiers die just like you expect them to: like toys. They spin around, fly through the air, and just explode into little pieces. By completing certain tasks in a level, you can unlock rations which are collectibles. You can view them all in a display case in between missions.

Multiplayer works in the same way as single player with one key difference. By pressing the Y button you bring up a menu which controls what types of troops attack the other player's base. You can use the money you've earned from killing troops to purchase different types of attacks.

Overall, Toy Soldiers is a game that you shouldn't let slip by. This is the game that every Tower Defense fan has been craving: A unique, solid, 3D experience.

    Final Score:

    9.5/10
