F.3.A.R Review

If you like to be scared and jumping out of your chair then F.3.A.R is the game for you! Within seconds this game had me on the edge of my seat! Screaming for more ammo!

Characters: The 2 main characters are Pointman, and Fettel. Each player has his own tricks, and has something for different gamer tactics. Pointman is your super soldier trained to kill all that oppose him shooting first then asking questions you will find he has many methods of getting the job done wither it is shooting or slowing time, all hardcore shooters will love Pointman! If you like to make your enemies explode into meaty bits using your mind Fettel is the one for you! He is a returning character mixing stealth and physic powers make him deadly, but harder to play as. Mixing these players will make game play interesting! Fettel can cover Pointman in a shield while Pointman slows time makes him damn near invincible. This is the one I’ve used the most but the possibilities are endless!

Story: The F.E.A.R games are built on scaring the hell out of the gamer! While F.E.A.R 1 and 2 were fairly long games fear 3 lacks the length I desired, but had me jumping out of my chair and screaming for help! The game has several different endings depending on the player you use. Each player ending left my jaw dropped asking for more! The game also comes with a co-op so you and a friend can scream like girls together, and yes it will happen. The game brings a new points system into the mix; Combing aggression, tactics, aptitude, and psychic. So while playing as Pointman your aggression, and tactics challenges will sky rocket the aptitude and psychic won’t move too much. Playing as Fettel you can get points for all four the aggression is the hardest for him, but psychic shouldn’t be a problem for him! The point system is for all modes multiplayer, co-op, and campaign. I don’t like this feature very much! You can be terrible at the multiplayer, but having a good co-op, or run though the story could have you at level 10. Keep in mind there are only 21 levels each granting you some kind of new perk, or ability! The game has some new hidden toys. They are called Alma dolls and finding all of them will land you a sweet achievement as well as a nice 5000 point challenge. They come at a risk though sometimes its hell bent demons, hordes of undead, or a phase commander. Needless to say after picking these up you should be afraid of the next corner or dark hallway! Image walking on a bridge and everything covered in blood. You walk inside a train car, and all around you there are half bodies, and blood trails leading in all directions! At one point I had to crawl under a train, and demons pop out all around you! Your defenseless and scared no ammo what’s there to do? Well me personally I screamed sprayed large amounts of ammo everywhere I could see their shadows from, and then I ran really fast! After finding several more decapitated bodies I thought I’d never beat the level ,and I didn’t the first couple of tries ,but once I hit the very end of the level all hell broke lose on me ,and there was no ammo to be found. As I thought everything was over, AI soldiers arrived and fought the dogs while your player slips away unnoticed by them. As you watch the men get torn limb from limb you crawl into the mech, and take the fight to them! Killing everything that cross’s your path, and having an evil laugh can make everything better up until the point your Mech is blown up! Then there’s no more laughing that will turn into screaming and tears of anger, but stumbling into a rocket launcher can change feelings! One of the really annoying things about fear is the riot shield. If you pick this weapon up be prepared to get trolled! Using this will take the weapon your holding and combine them I know that may sound awesome, but when you drop it you drop whatever weapon you were using with it. Another thing that may annoy some people is times wear you can’t sprint. This will happen quite often so be prepared! You haul ass through the train cars until you find a dead soldier holding his ump 45. Now you can take the fight to them if you can find them. There was one level that had me crying for my mommy running through train cars being chased by demon dogs can do that to anyone! A level that I hated was running through an apartment complex chasing by undead needless to say my ump 45 was my greatest friend! The final boss was a bit hard, but is possible! This game might not be as long as the first 2, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in fright and firefights!

Multiplayer: The online in this game is fun and will have you running just the like the story. Buying the game new will give you the fear pass. The pass gives you access to 2 exclusive modes and 6 maps. Adding on to the fright factor! With the fear pass you will have 4 modes all bring something new and fun to the table. The modes are Soul King, Soul Survivor, ****ing Run and contractions.
　

Soul King: In this game type each player starts as a wraith trying to kill bots as well as other wraiths. Special AI leaders will spawn so often giving you a more powerful soul to posses! There can be 3 to 5 rounds with a set time. The leader at the end of the game is declared the Soul King!
　

Soul Survivor: This game type is like halo’s infection mode. At the beginning of each round Alma will spawn and chose her victim for that round making that person a wraith. There are bots on the map as well as the players. This game type is my favorite mainly because there’s no bull**** spawn system. If you’re picked first time you won’t be picked again! The thing that set this mode apart from the others was that I found myself screaming for my friends to run and, myself holding off an endless horde that will consume me!
　
　
****ing Run: The name of this game is named accordingly. In the beginning of each wave players have a few seconds to gather weapons and ammo and haul ass through waves of enemies and stay alive. There is a time given for each wave that you must make it to the next point in if you don’t then its game over! While playing this mode I found myself standing up screaming cuss words at my TV! ****ing Run will have you doing just that running, and gunning enemies down!
　　

Contractions: This is a game type like Firefight\Nazi zombies\etc. At the beginning of each round players must scramble to find supply crates to help them on the road to survival. Each round has a new surprise for the players whether it is a mech, or a phase commander you will be screaming for backup! This game type needs some work your handgun is the only weapon you have for awhile it’s a decent weapon, but I’d rather have an ump, or shotgun!
Overall this game was very fun the multiplayer will keep you going, and the story will keep you fearing the next corner! The campaign wasn’t as long as we might have wanted, but it was good none the less! This game may not be the scarcest on the block, but it will have you screaming and crying none the less!
