Good Morning, afternoon, evening or night RUL, and welcome to your weekly update about on Prepare to laugh, cry, and laugh some more!
(Disclamer: FU may not make you laugh or cry)
This week's Friday Update contains a multitude of the good, bad, and the just plain ugly, so sit back, grab your favourite snack, and let me take you on an adventure through the depths of RUL!
Off the bat I just have to make a comment about how well RUL Day ran. Thanks to everyone who made it possible, all the staff who took the time to make sure things went perfectly behind the scenes; everyone who donated anything for us to giveaway; and of course everyone who showed up. RUL wouldn't be the same without you. It's another year until the 5th anniversary, but I already can't wait. If everything went half was well as it did this year, it'd still be an amazing day.
I think my partner in crime for RUL day, Riot, has something to say about it too.
Happy September everyone! I don’t have much to say, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. For those of you that won RUL points throughout our anniversary, you will be receiving your points soon. We have a list of people and the amount of points that need to be given out so don’t think we’ve forgotten about you! In due time we will also be giving out the 4th Anniversary award to those of you who participated at any point during RUL Day. I’m looking forward to seeing so many of your post bits adorned with that new award.I think that covers all the bases quite well. We really can't thank anyone who joined in enough. Like she said, you can also expect the award, and your points soon. I've just got to finalize a version of the award, so you should have it by the end of this long weekend!
Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to say thanks to everyone that showed up to the RUL Day 2011 Extravaganza last weekend. I had a ton of fun gaming with everyone and I hope you all feel the same. I also need to give a huge ‘Thank You’ to Rebel Rouser, Nightrise, Smore ninja, KillerofCereal, Spillanya, and Kathanis for helping me host throughout the day. I also need to thank Drax for creating the various images associated with RUL Day and to Ye Olde Apple for filming all the craziness. Without all of them, RUL Day would not have been as amazing as it was. So make sure to give a big high five to the staff for their help in creating such a great gaming extravaganza! Well, that’s all I’ve got for you this week. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Onto phase two!
Something is back.
You should be afraid!
Actually, it's not even scary, and is pretty useful! The regular [spoiler] tag works again! Though please keep in mind it only hides text, so if you have an imageSpoiler Below be sure to hide it using the [spoilerpic] tag!

Oh, you want to know how I put a line through that text? Well, the too is a recent addition. All you need to do is put a word inbetween [s] [ /s] and you get a lovelystrikethough'dword!
Go forth and enjoy this new, and old and now working features!
We have a contest going. You might just be able to win yourself a copy of Boulder Dash-XL by heading here and following the rules to enter!
On top of that, wetotally domight just have another contest on the way. You'll just have to wait for a hypothetical contest announcement to see if we did have some codes for a fairly recent game to give away.
The RUL Logo Contest ends soon! Tomorrow, or rather, when you read this, Today. We've have a fair number of entries, but if you still want to try your hand at it, you have just under 22 hours to do such! You get an awesome, limited, and rare, first print RUL logo shirt signed by a number of awesome people from the Halo community! I look forward to any images that we might yet get in and thank everyone who's participated already!
Time for the bad and the ugly.
You may have noticed one of our former staff members MSQ Ganner is banned. His ban is permanent.
There was a disagreement in which he chose to ultimately leave rather then follow the new guidelines that we had set. After doing such he proceeded to start to edit his news posts to have no content. We put a temporary ban up to stop this process, and reverted all his posts to their prior standard. Of course after such we were contacted and the exchanges were not in any form of a pleasant nature. Because of this sour attitude, the joint decision was made to permanently ban him, and to remove all of his posts to stop any forms of future harassment about keeping his posts. It was not an optimal situation for any of us, and we will of course miss having him around, but when a simple disagreement leads to what it did this time, it's simply best to cut all ties, and so we did.
While we wish we could have parted ways on better terms, we still wish Ganner a bright future in whatever way he decides to lead it. Thank you for all of the work you did do while you were here.
Annnnd now that we're all in a somber mood let me cheer you up with a adorable cat!
Now onto some good news! I'm sure you've noticed we've brought Pwnage onto the team! His news posts have proven to be absolutely superb, he is a wonderful addition to the team! Also, take note, we're always looking for new talent to add to the team, so if you try hard enough you might just find yourself invited to a position on the staff!
So please join me in this thread, in giving the biggest RUL welcome we can to our new staff member Pwnage!
Now onto this week's tip! I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. After a long long update.
Have you ever found yourself wondering why some thread prove easy to find while others seem like they take an eternity? Well wonder no more! A major part of our search system runs by comparing tags from threads to what you've searched! So if we all simply do our best to tag our threads, things will be easier to find in no time. You might even get some RUL points from tagging.
With that, I'm off RUL! Have an excellent and safe labour day long weekend, and remember we'll be back next week with another issue of the RUL Friday Update!
