I, in all honesty, was really let down by the campaign. I'm a writer and I'm big on character development. Halo Reach was devoid of this on so many groundbreaking levels.
The new game, as mentioned by Drax, was fun for awhile but got stale very quickly for me. I did end up having more fun when I played the new maps created by 343 and Certain Affinity. They are very well done and the game felt "different."
The maps Bungie created seem sub par compared to the great ones of the past and the ones created by the MLG community. User maps didn't ruin Halo Reach, it was Bungie's lack of solid multiplayer maps created by them. Their map packs were weak and did nothing for me. Add on the fact that the map packs were overpriced for 2 maps and a firefight map that you rarely play. Maps are a HUGE part of games like this and if the developer doesn't create a solid lineup of maps then you're pretty much setting the game up for failure.
The community keeps the game a little bit fresh, but the ones posted in the playlists are ones I'm not a big fan of. I suggest everyone to check out maps created specifically for tournament play and you'll be surprised at how much fun you can have on them. Check em' out on youtube.
Totally agree. Like you said 'make the Godzilla walk', there could be a glue tool, which glues the pieces together so you can move those pieces as a whole, not move one, go back, move the next one. Also hinges, swings, gears, ropes, stuff like that to make the map more interesting. You could make a moving platform for players to quickly travel across the map or to a higher level.
And copying. I have always thought there should be a copy/paste tool. You can glue the pieces, copy that, the paste it somewhere on the map without having to recreate it. Sorta like the tools on Trials HD, if you've ever played it.
I agree with the majority of your statement except for the community maps being bad the majority of them are well planned out and created beautifully. But they are just overused and abused in every game type that is why they are boring plus not all maps are best for every game type that is where Bungie messed up with having community maps all the Bungie created maps were made for specific game types and that's the only time you see them unlike community based maps which pop up everywhere. They should have kept the the community only game type with only a few maps sprinkled in the other game types it would have made it a lot easier to see ascetically. for your argument about forge world the majority of me and my friends have been discussing this for awhile and was so happy about forge world until I realized it meant taking away most of the forge features from the other maps in my opinion I would take several smaller more customize able maps over forge world which visually gets boring and overused, and creatively just gets less fun and harder to create something let alone something different and original, plus it makes the game play experience less fun for me and my friends.
:::::I must state this is my opinion and it is excluding grifball for that is an entirely different discussion:::::
